intermediate Print Quality

Wavy patterns on print surfaces caused by vibrations from rapid direction changes.

Ringing (or ghosting) appears as ripple patterns on flat surfaces, usually after sharp corners or letters. It’s caused by printer vibrations.

Causes

  • Acceleration too high
  • Loose belts
  • Heavy print head
  • Flexible frame
  • Fast direction changes

Fixes

  • Lower acceleration
  • Tighten belts
  • Use input shaping (Klipper)
  • Reduce print speed
  • Stiffen frame
