Nozzle Diameter
Also known as: Nozzle Size
The diameter of the nozzle opening, determining line width and detail level.
Nozzle diameter is the size of the hole at the tip of the nozzle. Standard is 0.4mm, but various sizes are available for different purposes.
Common Sizes
| Size | Use Case |
|---|---|
| 0.2mm | Fine detail, miniatures |
| 0.4mm | Standard, all-purpose |
| 0.6mm | Faster prints |
| 0.8mm | Fast, strong parts |
| 1.0mm | Very fast, large prints |
Relationship to Layer Height
Max layer height ≈ 75% of nozzle diameter
- 0.4mm nozzle → 0.3mm max layer
- 0.6mm nozzle → 0.45mm max layer
Trade-offs
- Smaller = more detail, slower
- Larger = faster, less detail
