Linear Advance
Also known as: LA, Pressure Advance
Firmware feature that compensates for pressure buildup in the nozzle for cleaner prints.
Linear Advance (Marlin) or Pressure Advance (Klipper) compensates for the pressure buildup in the hotend during extrusion changes, resulting in cleaner corners and seams.
How It Works
- Anticipates pressure changes
- Reduces extrusion before slowdowns
- Increases extrusion before speedups
- Results in consistent line width

Calibration
Requires tuning the K-factor (LA) or PA value through test prints. Typical values: 0.02-0.5 for direct drive, 0.5-1.5 for Bowden.
