Seam

Also known as: Z Seam, Layer Seam, Start Point

The visible line where each layer starts and ends, creating a vertical mark.

The seam is where each layer begins and ends, often visible as a vertical line on the print surface.

Seam Placement Options

  • Aligned - All seams in one spot (visible line)
  • Random - Scattered (less obvious but textured)
  • Sharpest Corner - Hidden in corners
  • Back - Placed on rear of print
  • User Specified - You choose location

Minimizing Visibility

  • Place in corners or hidden areas
  • Tune retraction to reduce blob at seam
  • Enable coasting and wipe
  • Use linear/pressure advance
  • Sometimes random is least visible
