Slicer
Also known as: Slicing Software, Slicer Software
Software that converts 3D models into G-code instructions the printer can understand.
A slicer is software that takes a 3D model (STL, 3MF) and converts it into G-code—the instructions your printer follows to create the object layer by layer.
How Slicing Works
- Load 3D model
- Configure settings (layer height, speed, temperature, etc.)
- Software “slices” model into horizontal layers
- Generates toolpath for each layer
- Exports G-code file
